South Dunedin office moving
The South Dunedin Work and Income office is moving to a new home. From 2 May we will be at our new location - the new Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub.
Where we’re moving to
Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub is on the corner of Ranfurly Street and Playfair Street.
Te Kāika has a free carpark, enter from Playfair Street, across from the Caversham Community Church. The carpark has accessible parking spaces and bike racks. The building is also fully wheelchair accessible.
When it will open
Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub will open on 2 May 2024.
Our old office, on the corner Rankeillor Street and Hillside Road, will close on 24 April at 2pm. If you need us in between those dates you can use MyMSD, or call 0800 559 009, or 0800 552 002 for Seniors. If you need to speak with someone local we can still help, call 0800 559 009 to book a phone appointment.
How to get there
Driving or pedestrians
Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub is just past the Mitchell's car park if you're coming from South Road.
There are 2 entrances:
- Pedestrian access is from Ranfurly Street, or
- Carpark entrance is off Playfair Street.
The Work and Income reception is at the Ranfurly Street entrance.
Shuttle service
There is a free shuttle to help you get to the new office. The shuttle follows a loop route between the Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub and other parts of South Dunedin.
The shuttle stops at:
- Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub at 2 Ranfurly Street
- 172 South Road
- 134 King Edward Street
- 386 King Edward Street
- 111 Bay View Road
- 94 Forbury Road
- 122 MacAndrew Road
- 169 Hillside Road
- 469 Hillside Road
- Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub at 2 Ranfurly Street.
The shuttle departs from the hub at 8am, 12pm and 5pm from Monday to Friday. You don't need to book and no ID is required.
Bus services
There are bus stops near the hub. You can find the times on the Otago Regional Council website:
Why we're moving to Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub
The Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub is a base for Work and Income and Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora. Health and social services will be provided together in the same building.
Work and Income will still have the same services we do now:
- work
- benefits and financial support
- housing
- senior services.
