Extra support and training for job candidates
If you're looking for someone to hire, have found a candidate or already hired someone, and they need some extra support or training, we may be able to help.
Flexi-wage is one of the ways we're supporting more New Zealanders into work. You can get help to hire staff, get the skills you need to do a job, or start your own business.
To help you keep or take on a new apprentice, we may be able to provide financial support in the first two years of their apprenticeship.
If you’re hiring one of our candidates and they’ll be pursuing a formal industry qualification while on the job, we may be able to help with a wage contribution, course fees and on-the-job support.
If candidates need industry-specific skills for a job, we may be able to offer funding and support to help with short-term pre-employment or in-work training. It’s to help multiple job seekers gain industry-specific skills (training could be for just a few people up to several hundred).
Once your new staff member starts work, we can offer ongoing post-placement support and advice to help you manage any challenges that come up.
Disabled or have a health condition
You can support someone with a disability or health condition, including mental health and neurodiversity, into work through one of our Mainstream programmes. We may be able to help by paying wage subsidies, other funding and on-the-job support.
Your employee may be able to get a funding to pay for equipment or changes to their work space due to their disability or health condition. This is paid through Job Support Funds.
Funding and projects to support employment
If you have a project to help rangatahi (the younger generation) access ongoing employment, we may be able to help with funding and support.
This fund supports community led employment and training programmes through partnerships between Māori and the Crown.
