Benefits and payments

We can help in lots of different ways and situations.

  • Not working

    If you've lost your job or can't work at the moment, you may be able to get a benefit or some other financial help from us. It depends on your situation.

  • Urgent or unexpected costs

    If you have an urgent cost or get an unexpected bill, we might be able to help, even if you're working.

  • Help with living expenses

    If you're struggling to pay your living costs, eg, accommodation, school costs, power, we might be able to help, even if you're working.

  • Senior services

    We're here to support people as they age, to be happy, healthy and valued.

  • Relationship changes

    If you've had a relationship end, it can be a very stressful time. We may be able to help in a number of ways.

  • Health and disability

    If you have a health condition or disability there are a number of ways we may be able to help.

  • Carers

    If you're caring for someone else, we may be able to help you depending on your situation.

  • Children

    There are lots of costs involved with raising children. We may be able to help you with some of them depending on your situation.

  • Moving to New Zealand

    If you're moving to New Zealand (NZ), you may be able to get help from us. It depends on your situation.

  • Fixing past payment errors

    We've found errors in some people's past payments which means we may owe you money. This includes Accommodation Supplement and Special Benefit.

  • Emergencies

    If there's been an emergency event, we may be able to help, even if you're not on a benefit.

  • 16-19 year olds

    We offer a number of services for young people to help improve skills through education, training, work or other related activities.
