You're not working

If you've lost your job or can't work at the moment, you may be able to get a benefit or some other financial help from us. It depends on your situation.

Check what you might get

You can use our 'Check what you might get' tool to find out what type of help you may qualify for.

We'll ask you some questions, and at the end, we'll tell you the payments we think you might be able to get.

Reasons for not working

We have different types of support and payments available depending on your situation.

Another reason

If there's another reason you're not working, we may still be able to help. You may be able to get Jobseeker Support, if you're not currently employed because:

  • you’re self-employed but not working full-time and can’t support yourself
  • you've just finished studying
  • you've just returned from overseas
  • you've stopped working during, or at the end of, a trial period of up to 90 days.

Talk to us about your situation so we can work out the best way to help you.
