Redundancy support for employers

Our dedicated team can help your business if you're struggling. We may be able to help you retrain and keep your staff on, or support them to find a new job.

The best way you can help your staff is by contacting us as early as possible, even if no decisions have been made yet.

We can help by:

  • exploring options to support you and your business
  • advice to help make decisions
  • helping your staff plan ahead.

Email our Early Response team with your name, business name, contact information, and a brief description of your situation to RedeploymentSupport@msd.govt.nz

Help to avoid redundancies

Talk to us if you're worried about losing your staff or keeping jobs going. We can create a tailored support plan for you.

We can help with things like:

  • training staff to do different roles
  • checking if you can get support for your business
  • seeing if we can support your staff while they're still working for you.

Making staff redundant

If you have to make staff redundant, contact us as early as you can. We'll talk one-on-one with you about what support is best for your business and staff.

Your staff will get tailored support to find a new job as quickly as possible.

This includes things like:

  • wellbeing support for anxiety or worries about work
  • updating their CV and cover letter
  • any training they may need
  • looking for a job and connecting with employers
  • financial support while they're between jobs.
