Notice of Credit letter
Sometimes we may give clients a Notice of Credit letter (or “hologram letter”) if we've paid by direct credit. It's proof we've granted the client money for a one-off cost, and paid the money into your bank account.
We may need to give a client a Notice of Credit letter if:
- you don't use EFTPOS
- the EFTPOS network or our internal systems are down, or
- there's a state of emergency or natural disaster.
How it works
If we approve payment for a one-off cost, e.g. food, we pay the money into your account. Then we'll give the client a Notice of Credit letter.
The Notice of Credit letter confirms how much money we’ve paid into your account.
If the client doesn't use the full amount, they can't get change for it. You'll need to refund the money to us.
What it can't be used for
Notice of Credit letters cannot be used:
- to buy:
- alcohol
- cigarettes, tobacco or vaping products
- gift cards or vouchers (except for phone top-ups)
- lotto tickets
- non-essential appliances or electronics (such as an air fryer or gaming console).
- to withdraw cash.
What it looks like
This is an example of what a Notice of Credit letter looks like:
Refunds
Refunds on return of goods must be paid to us, not the customer.
