Change of costs for Temporary Additional Support
If you're getting Temporary Additional Support and you want to include a new essential cost, or one of your costs has changed, you need to let us know straight away.

Add a new cost or cost has increased
If you have another essential cost, or one of your costs has increased, you need to let us know straight away.
You can tell us about this in MyMSD, or you can call us.
You need to provide proof
You'll need to provide proof of:
- the amount of the new cost or change in cost, and
- the date the cost started or changed.
You'll be able to upload this proof in MyMSD as you go. If you call us, we'll let you know how you can get it to us.
If your cost is formula assessed child support through Inland Revenue, you can give consent in MyMSD for IR to share this information with us.
If your application is approved
If it's approved, we'll reassess your Temporary Additional Support from either:
- the date you tell us about the new cost, or
- the date an existing cost changed.
Cost has stopped or decreased
If a cost you're getting Temporary Additional Support for has stopped or decreased, you need to let us know straight away.
You can tell us about this in MyMSD, or you can call us.
We'll need to know:

- the date the cost stopped or decreased, and
- how much the cost has decreased to (if the cost decreased).
We'll reassess your Temporary Additional Support from the date you tell us. If you don't tell us straight away, you may get a debt.
