Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC)

We share information about ACC payments you might be getting. This is so we can check you meet the criteria for any benefits or payments you're getting from us.

Centrelink (Australia)

If you have a debt with us, we share information so we can make sure you're making repayments, even if you go to Australia.

Department of Corrections

We share information so we can help people who have been recently released from prison to find a job, and to identify when entitlements may have changed due to going into prison.

If you have made a historic claim of abuse, we will share your information so we can assess and respond to your claim.

Department of Internal Affairs (DIA)

We share information about births, deaths, marriages, identity and name change. This is so we can check if your benefit or allowance records are still active. >

Earthquake Commission (EQC)

We share information to identify tenants who are vulnerable. This means we can give priority to their EQC claim (Canterbury earthquake).

Education Providers

We share information so we can check:

• you can get a benefit, Student Allowance or Student Loan
• that you're being paid the right amount of benefit, Student Allowance or Student Loan.

Inland Revenue

We share information about you with Inland Revenue to:

• assess your eligibility for a benefit or subsidy and check you're being paid the right amount
• make sure you’re meeting your benefit and tax obligations
• register you as a new client or update your contact information.

Information sharing with MSD (Inland Revenue)external

Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE)

We share information so we can analyse rents using the MBIE Bond dataset. This helps us understand how rents have had an impact on the Accommodation Supplement in the past.

Ministry of Defence

We share information about the outcomes of the Limited Services Volunteer (LSV) programme. This is a programme run by the Ministry of Defence. The data's gathered from Statistics New Zealand's Integrated Data Infrastructure.

Ministry of Education

If you're a school leaver, we share your information so we can help you with finding a job or training, if you need it.

Not in Education, Employment, or Training (Youth Service)external

We share information so we can help meet your accommodation and service needs. We also make sure you're paying the correct rent to the housing provider.

Ministry of Justice

We share information to check if you have a warrant out for your arrest. This is so we can encourage you to attend your court hearing.

Ministry of Transport

We share information so that SuperGold card holders and participants in the Community Connect Scheme can access public transportation discounts.

Netherlands (SVB)

If you get pensions from New Zealand and the Netherlands, we share information to check you're getting paid the right amount.

New Zealand Customs Service

If you're getting a benefit or NZ Super, we share information about when you leave and arrive in New Zealand. This is so we can make sure you don't get a debt if you're overseas for longer than what you should be.

If you're getting an overseas pension, we share information about residency. This is so we can check you're getting paid the right amount.

New Zealand Police

We share information so the Police can track down anyone who has an outstanding warrant. The Police also need to know if they may be a risk to the public.

If Police are conducting an investigation, we may need to share the relevant information with them.

If you have made a historic claim of abuse that concerns a person’s possible criminal offending, we may need to share that information with Police.

We share information with NZQA to facilitate the efficient processing and payment of NZ Scholarship Monetary Awards.

Oranga Tamariki

If you have made a historic claim of abuse, we will share your information so we can assess and respond to your claim.

Statistics New Zealand

We regularly share information with Stats NZ for the Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI). Stats NZ removes information, such as name and date of birth, before they add it to the IDI, so it doesn't identify you. Then they link to this data so researchers can use it.

Te Puni Kōkiri

If you have made a historic claim of abuse, we will share your information so we can assess and respond to your claim.

Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand (formerly various District Health Boards)

We share information with Te Whatu Ora to work out if you can get help from us. This could be a Health Assessment to work out if you have work obligations, or a Work Assessment.

Tertiary Education Commission (TEC)

We share information with the Tertiary Education Commission if you are:

• a first-time student with a Student Loan for course fees, to make sure the course fee payments are correct
• a student getting Training Incentive Allowance for course fees, to assess your eligibility for Fees Free
• an employee whose employer is getting Apprenticeship Boost payments for you, so we can check eligibility and process payments.

Veterans' Affairs

If you apply for Veteran's Pension, we share information:

• to make sure you're getting everything you're entitled to as a veteran or other claimant
• to help with a review or appeal against a decision Veterans' Affairs has made.
