'Cheap as' data

You can use some of our websites and online services at little or no cost if you are on Spark, One NZ, 2degrees or Skinny mobile networks

How it works

When you visit some of our websites, you'll only need to use a very small amount of data – usually less than 1 cent of your data allowance. If you have no data at all, you'll be able to use our websites and online services for free. You'll need to make sure your mobile data is turned on.

Our websites and online services that use 'Cheap as' data are:

  • Work and Income - Workandincome.govt.nz
  • MyMSD - my.msd.govt.nz
  • StudyLink - studylink.govt.nz
  • MyStudyLink - my.studylink.govt.nz
  • Online applications for benefits, payments or NZ Super
  • Ministry of Social Development website - msd.govt.nz
  • RealMe registration on the Department of Internal Affair's website.

We estimate that at least 90% of our clients' mobile phones are connected to Spark, One NZ, Skinny or 2degrees. Any device that can access the internet on the mobile network of one of these providers can access 'Cheap as' data.

Websites and services not covered

Some things are not covered by 'Cheap as' data. This is because they are not directly hosted by us. You will be charged your normal data rate if you use these sites:

Networks not included

If your mobile data provider is a reseller of data from another telecommunications company, you won't be able to use 'Cheap as' data.
