Winter Energy Payment update
News:
We recently identified that the Winter Energy Payment had been stopped for some people receiving New Zealand Superannuation and Veteran's Pension.
This affected some New Zealand Super and Veteran’s Pension clients who:
- are getting other payments, such as Disability Allowance or Accommodation Supplement (for a full list see Confirming your circumstances), and
- were recently required to confirm their circumstances.
We have completed a review for people who were affected and restarted their Winter Energy Payments. Where people did not receive their full payment, this has been corrected.

If you were affected by this, you don’t need to do anything
We will contact you directly, through MyMSD or by letter, to explain what happened and confirm we’ve corrected your payment.
People who are completing a Confirming Your Circumstances review, or who were due to begin a review, are not affected by this issue.
