Jobseeker profile

A Jobseeker profile helps us match you with jobs that suit your skills and experience.

You can create or update your Jobseeker profile anytime in MyMSD.

A Jobseeker profile is where you tell us about:

  • your work skills and experience
  • your qualifications, and
  • the type of work you're looking for.

We'll use your profile to match you with jobs that suit you. We may also use it to refer you to courses or training.

Updating your profile

The Jobseeker profile tool was updated on 29 June 2026. If you already had a Jobseeker profile before this, you need to update it. This is because we need more information in the new profile, so we can make better job matches for you.

When you have to complete one

Anyone can make a Jobseeker profile if they have a MyMSD account. Some people will be told they must complete a profile – we’ll ask you to do this if:

  • you apply for, or are transferring to, certain benefits
  • we've asked you to create one as part of meeting your work-related obligations.

If you have a partner, they may also need to complete one.

Applied for, or transferring to, certain benefits

You have to create a Jobseeker profile if you apply for (or transfer to) any of these benefits:

  • Jobseeker Support
  • Sole Parent Support
  • Emergency Benefit (including Emergency Maintenance Allowance), if you're required to find work.

You need to complete your Jobseeker profile before your benefit can be approved.

Timeframe to complete your profile

You have 20 working days from the date you first contact us to complete the application process, including your Jobseeker profile.

We may be able to give you more time to complete your Jobseeker profile, or decide you don’t need to do one. We will only do this if you have a good reason, for example:

  • you suddenly had to go to  hospital
  • a death or illness in your family
  • you had to leave the country for an emergency reason.

If you can't complete your Jobseeker profile in time, contact us to let us know.
