Relationships and New Zealand Superannuation
We need to know if you have a partner to make sure we pay you the right rate. A partner is someone you're married to, your civil union partner, or someone you have a de facto relationship with.
A de facto relationship is a relationship between two people who are:
- committed to each other emotionally
- financially interdependent and
- not legally married or in a civil union, but are living in the nature of marriage or civil union.
If you're unsure about whether we'd consider you to be in a relationship, or how a relationship may affect your payments, you can call us on 0800 552 002 and we'll help you work it out.
