Ways to repay from New Zealand
There are several ways you can pay us.
Deductions from wages
If you want to repay your debt by deducting an amount from your wages:
- Complete the Repayment Form below.
- In the 'Repayment arrangement' section:
- Fill in the amount you want deducted from your wages.
- Choose the frequency and write down the start date for payments.
- Tick 'Deductions from wages' in 'How will you pay?'.
- When you have completed the form, email it to us. A signature is not required if this form is being sent by email.
Our Collections Unit will contact your employer to arrange repayments.
You can complete this form on your computer by clicking in the appropriate fields and typing in your information. You can check boxes by clicking on them with your mouse. You can save the information entered in the form by saving the form in your computer (go to File: Save as from the menu) and continue filling it in by opening the saved form.

Automatic Payments from your bank
If you want to repay your debt by automatic payments from your bank:
- Download and print the Authority Form for Debt Repayments below.
- Fill in your bank details in the ‘payer details'.
- Fill in your account details.
- Choose the frequency and start date for payments.
- Write your client number after the D in the payee details.
- Email our Collections Unit and let us know:
- how much you will be paying
- frequency of payment
- start date of payments
- Take the form to your bank.
Your bank may charge you for setting up automatic payments and ongoing costs.

Internet or telebanking payments
You can set up automatic payments using internet or telebanking payments.
You will need the following information:
Name of bank: Westpac
Branch: NZ Government branch
Account name: Work and Income Debtors Account
Account details: 03-0049-0006243-025
Write your client number after a D in the payee details.
You will also need to email our Collections Unit and let us know:
- how much you will be paying
- frequency of payment
- start date of payments
Your bank may charge you for these services.

Cheque payment
We are happy to accept payments by cheque. Once you’ve completed your cheque, please ensure you:
- Clearly print your name and your client number on the back of the cheque or attach your bar coded advice slip.

Cash/eftpos
You can only make payments by cash, eftpos at a NZ Post Shop. You will need a barcode to make these payments. This barcode contains the information we need to apply the payment to your account.
Regular payments
If you're going to make regular payments, it's best for you to use a 'NZ Post Repayment Card'. This holds all the details for NZ Post.
If you don't have a NZ Post Repayment Card, contact our Collections Unit and they'll send you one.

Lump sum payments
If you are making a lump sum payment, or don't have a NZ Post Repayment Card you will need to take your barcoded letter with you to NZ Post. You will need to keep your receipt for your records.
