The information on our websites is intended to provide general information to the public. We do everything we can to keep your information private and keep our websites up-to-date.

Privacy

Our privacy statement tells you how we collect, use and share your information when you use the online self-service kiosks.

System monitoring

We have enabled system monitoring to help us diagnose and fix system issues on the kiosks. This works by saving technical information about the system from every kiosk session in a log. It will record anonymous raw data we can use to fix issues or faults with the kiosk. However if the kiosk crashes, there is a possibility the content on the screen at the time, which may include personal information, is captured in the log.

These logs are saved for a maximum of 60 days and only viewed if there is a reason to, like a reported fault with the kiosk. In these cases, we may view the log and decide whether to send it to Google to diagnose and fix any issues with the kiosk.

Accessing MyMSD and MyStudyLink

We’ve made it easy for you to access MyMSD and MyStudyLink websites on the kiosk. It’s important to understand when you enter information on these websites, it will be collected in the same way as if you enter the information on your home computer.

Third party websites

We have blocked access to some third-party websites, but you can still access a wide range of others, like Trade Me and Gmail. When you enter information on these websites, we do not have control over whether they collect that information.

Third-party websites should have a privacy statement that tells you what information they collect from you, how they use it, and if they disclose it to another party.

What we don't collect

Except for personal information that may be captured in a log during a crash, or that you enter on an MSD website, any personal information you input to the kiosk is not collected by us. It's destroyed when you click ‘exit session’ or when it automatically times out.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. If you have any questions, would like to ask for a copy of your information, or have your information corrected, just ask us. You can also email privacyofficer@msd.govt.nz.
