Fixing some payment errors
Find out about an error we made with Accommodation Supplement and another issue where we found some people on Special Benefit may have been better off on Temporary Additional Support, and what we're doing to put these right.
Accommodation Supplement payment error
We found an error in some people's Accommodation Supplement payments. This means we owe some people money and other people were overpaid.
We’ve repaid all our current clients. If you're a former client you can use our payment errors enquiry form to check if we owe you money.
Special Benefit issue
A small number of people would have been paid more if they’d moved from Special Benefit to Temporary Additional Support payments. This means some Special Benefit clients may be owed money.
Paying people back
These errors mean in some cases we underpaid people. This shouldn’t have happened and we’ve repaid the money we owe in many cases, particularly for the Accommodation Supplement error.
When we find we’ve made a mistake we contact clients to sort issues out, apologise and put it right in an open and fair way.
No one needs to pay us back if we make an error and pay people too much.
Enquire online to see if we owe you money
If you think you've been affected by these issues you can use our payment errors enquiry form to see if we owe you money.
When you make an enquiry (for you or someone else), the form will check to see if you're affected by a payment error (the Accommodation Supplement error or the Special Benefit issue).
Your payment error enquiry will tell you if you're owed any money, but won't tell you how much you're owed. We'll write to tell you that.
