Stop your payment in My Account
You can log in anytime to My Account to tell us about changes that mean you no longer want to receive all or part of your payments from Work and Income.
If you have debt with us you can arrange debt repayments at the time you stop your payments.
Use the Check what you might get to see if you may qualify for other assistance based on your situation.
If you receive New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension use this form to stop your additional assistance such as Disability Allowance or Accommodation Supplement. For other payments, please contact Senior Services on 0800 552 002.
If you receive the Youth Payment or Young Parent Payment make sure you also contact your Youth Service provider directly to tell them about your change in circumstances.
Before you begin
If you are stopping a main benefit payment (eg Jobseeker Support or Sole Parent Support) you can choose to transfer to the Working for Families payment automatically if you qualify.
If you want to stop any of the following payments you need to contact us. You can’t stop these payments online:
- Unsupported Child Benefit
- Orphans Benefit
- New Zealand Superannuation (NZ Super)
- Veterans Pension (VP)
- Child Disability Allowance (CDA)
- Special Benefit
What you’ll need
You'll need the following information:
- Reason for stopping payment
- The date your circumstances changed
- Details relating to your change in circumstances e.g. employer name and contact details.
