Keeping you safe online

We make sure that any information we collect from you on our online sites is kept safe and secure.

• We’ll never contact you to ask for your username or password.
• We give you the option of setting up a pin number to secure your MyMSD account.
• You’ll be automatically logged out of our online services if you don’t do anything for 5 minutes. You’ll need to log back in to continue.

Keep yourself safe online

Follow these simple tips to help keep your information safe.

• When logging into MyMSD there is a tick box to “make PIN-only login available on this device” – do not tick this box.
• Some websites will ask you to identify if you are using a shared computer. We recommend that you select the ‘I’m using a public or shared computer’ option.
• Remember to log out of any online accounts and click ‘exit session’ when you’re finished on the kiosk.
• Be aware of anyone around you trying to view the information on your screen.

Online scams, including phishing attacks

There are many different online scams. It’s good to be aware of what’s out there and know what you can do to keep yourself safe from scams.

One of the most common scams is called a phishing attack. This is where you could receive an email that looks like it has come from an organisation you trust (like a bank), asking for your personal information, like passwords and credit card numbers.

Some important things to remember.

• Don’t open emails or click on links in emails from people you don’t know.
• Don’t be tricked into giving your login and password details. Real companies don’t ask for these.
