COVID-19 Wage Subsidy August 2021

The Wage Subsidy August 2021 payments support employers to continue to pay employees and protect jobs for businesses affected by a change in COVID-19 alert levels.

Applications for the fifth COVID-19 Wage Subsidy August 2021, known as Wage Subsidy August 2021 #5, are open for two weeks between 9am, 15 October and 11.59pm, 28 October 2021.

Applications for Wage Subsidy #4 are now closed. It was available between 9am, 1 October 2021 and 11.59pm, Thursday 14 October 2021.

Information

Inland Revenue is updating their systems between 21 and 28 October. This may delay some COVID-19 Wage Subsidy August 2021 applications, because we need to verify your information with Inland Revenue. You can still apply during this time. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

Already applied?

We'll email you once your application has been processed to let you know the outcome. We usually process applications within three working days, however some applications may take longer. This could be because we need to check your details with Inland Revenue.

Even if you didn’t apply for a previous payment, you can apply for Wage Subsidy #5 if you meet the eligibility criteria.

If you’ve applied for a previous COVID-19 Wage Subsidy August 2021, you need to wait until two weeks after you’ve applied before you can apply for Wage Subsidy August 2021 #5. If you apply earlier than this, your application for the new subsidy will be declined.

If you applied and were eligible for the fourth wage subsidy, we’ll email you to tell you when you can apply for the new Wage Subsidy #5.

COVID-19 wage subsidies - employer search

To make sure all COVID-19 wage subsidy payments are transparent and that the scheme is accountable to the public, you can search for companies that have received payments.

The search will tell you:

  • the name of the company
  • the number of employees for whom payment has been made
  • the amount paid
  • the wage subsidy the payments relate to (the current payment is called Wage Subsidy August 2021).
