Increase to payments on 1 April 2022
01 April 2022.
On 1 April 2022 benefit and payments increased due to the Annual General Adjustment. There is also an additional increase to some other payments you get from us. This was announced last year in Budget 2021.
These changes happened automatically and you don't need to do anything (apart from increases to Student Loan payments).
You can check your new payment amount in MyMSD from 4 April 2022.
Your first payment in April
Your first payment in April will be partly paid at the new rates, as 1 April falls partway through the pay period. You’ll get the full increase in your second payment (the week of 11 April if you’re paid weekly).
Changes to other payments
Payment rates for people getting Supported Living Payment, Jobseeker Support, Sole Parent Support, Youth Payment, Young Parent Payment, and other main benefits have increased.
Check out the new rates here:

These changes are over and above the usual 1 April Annual General Adjustment increases to benefits and payments.
Childcare Assistance income thresholds have increased in line with net average wage growth. This will maintain current levels of Childcare Assistance for parents as wages grow.
Orphan’s Benefit and Unsupported Child’s Benefit have increased bringing these into line with payments made to carers through Oranga Tamariki. This change is automatic, and you don’t need to do anything.
Working for Families tax credits have increased. This change is automatic, and you don’t need to do anything. You can find out more on the Inland Revenue’s website.
Student Allowance and the maximum entitlement for Student Loan have also changed. Read more about the change on the StudyLink website.
Impact on your other payments
When your main benefit increases, this may affect some of your other payments like Temporary Additional Support or Accommodation Supplement.
