We’re happy to go through your individual situation to make sure you’re getting all the help that you should be. Please call us to talk about this.

  • Changes for benefits

Sole parents - removing section 192 (formerly 70A)

Annual changes to benefits on 1 April

From 1 April 2020, main benefits will be adjusted on 1 April each year in line with wage growth instead of inflation (CPI).

    Increasing abatement thresholds

From 1 April 2020, if you’re getting one of the benefits below, you’ll be able to earn more each week before your benefit reduces. This is called the abatement threshold.

The proposed benefit abatement thresholds over the next 4 years are:

  • Changes for superannuitants

    Getting ACC weekly payments

From 1 July 2019, if you’re entitled to weekly ACC compensation for a personal injury, you'll be able to get those payments, along with NZ Super or the Veteran’s Pension, for up to 2 years.

If your partner gets an overseas pension

From 1 July 2020, your NZ Super or Veteran’s Pension won’t be affected if your partner’s getting an overseas pension.

    Non-qualifying partners

From 1 July 2020, if you have a partner and they don’t qualify for NZ Super or Veteran’s Pension, you won’t be able to include them in your payments. Your partner will need to qualify for NZ Super and Veteran’s Pension in their own right.

If your partner doesn’t qualify and is currently included in your payments, you will keep getting this rate unless your circumstances change.

  • SuperGold card

Before the end of 2019 the SuperGold website will be upgraded and a SuperGold app created. This will make it easier to know where you can get discounts.

You’ll still be able to use your card in the same way you do now.
