From 5 December 2017 there will be changes for people who donate a kidney or liver tissue for transplant within New Zealand.
Getting Live Organ Donor Assistance after 5 December 2016
If you get Live Organ Donor Assistance at any time after 5 December 2016, you may be able to get a lump sum payment for loss of earnings from the Ministry of Health.
The amount of the lump sum payment will be the difference between how much you got for Live Organ Donor Assistance and how much income you lost because you couldn’t work.
You'll be contacted about this in November 2017.
Donate from 5 December 2017
If you donate from 5 December 2017, the Ministry of Health may pay you for up to 12 weeks from when you have surgery. You'll get paid:

It doesn’t matter how much you earn or what assets you have.
