Payment rate changes from 1 April

From 1 April 2016, there will be changes to some payment rates.
More support for low-income families
Benefit rates for families with dependent children are increasing by $25 a week after tax. The exact amount will depend on any other assistance received, such as Accommodation Supplement and Temporary Additional Support.
More than 100,000 beneficiaries and 3,000 student allowance recipients who have dependent children will receive an increase in their rate of assistance as part of the Child Material Hardship package.
NZ Superannuation and Veteran’s Pension
NZ Superannuation and Veteran’s Pension rates will increase by 2.73 per cent on 1 April, so that the married rate continues to equal 66% of the average net wage.
Disability Allowance income thresholds, Community Service Card income thresholds for Superannuitants, Special Transfer Allowance average regional rents and Civil Defence accommodation costs will also increase on 1 April.
Rates for other financial support linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) will be maintained at their current levels.
