Clients from the Netherlands

When a former resident of the Netherlands applies for a New Zealand benefit or pension it is important to know whether they are receiving a Netherlands pension, or if they may be entitled to one.

All clients who have previously resided in the Netherlands, regardless of where they were born, must complete the residence detail section of the application form when they apply for any New Zealand benefit or pension. This information must be entered in UCVII.

This is irrespective of whether the client uses the agreement with the Netherlands to qualify for a New Zealand benefit or pension, or qualifies under the New Zealand domestic legislation.

Note the Netherlands authorities may advise International Services when a Netherlands pension is granted for a client who is living in New Zealand. If the client is not receiving a New Zealand benefit or pension International Services will record the information in UCVII.

This will ensure there is a record of the Netherlands pension if the client subsequently applies for a New Zealand benefit or pension.
