Making repayments from New Zealand
There are several ways that you can make repayment to Work and Income. When you are making repayments, it’s a good idea to keep a track of any money you owe to help with your budget.
Cheque
If you want to make payment in full you can send a cheque to:
National Crown Revenue Office
PO Box 31 344
Lower Hutt 5040
Please clearly print your name and your client number on the back of the cheque or attach the payment slip from the letter we send you.
Direct debit from your wages
To pay by direct debit you need to complete a Debt Repayment Information Form and send it to our Collections unit.
Fill in the top part of the form with your employer’s details, how much you want to repay, and how often. Then sign the form at the bottom and send it to:
Collections Unit
PO Box 7564
Sydenham
Christchurch 8240
We’ll arrange repayments with your employer when we receive your letter without any cost to you.
Automatic payments from your bank account
We’ll send you a Bank Authority form which has our account details and your client number printed on it. Complete the rest of this form and take it, or mail it, to your bank.
You can print a Bank Authority form to fill out. If you do this it’s important to include your name and client number in the Payee Details so that information will appear on our bank statements. Your bank may charge you for this service.
It would be helpful if you can let us know when you have started your automatic payments.
Internet Banking
You can use our details provided on the Bank Authority form to set this up.
Remember to include your name and client number on the payment. Your bank may charge you for this service.
It would be helpful if you can let us know when you have done this.
New Zealand Post Shop
You can pay by cash, cheque or Eftpos at any NZ Post Shop. You’ll need to have a payment slip (this is included in the letter we send to you).
If you wish to pay by regular amounts you can also contact us to have a payment card sent to you.
Contact the Collections Unit
You can contact the Collections Unit anytime to ask any questions about your repayments or to find out how much you owe:
