If you're a War Veteran you may be entitled to special benefits or pensions in recognition of your service.
Help with living and housing expenses
We may be able to help you with your living expenses, health and housing costs.

A pension if you've served in any war or other emergency in which New Zealand forces have served, and have a disability. There are advantages to getting a Veteran's Pension instead of New Zealand Superannuation.
Help with your rent, board or the cost of owning a home.
A card that can help you and your family with the costs of health care. You'll pay less on some health services and prescriptions.
An ongoing extra payment on top of your NZ Superannuation or Veteran’s Pension when you maintain a household on your own. You may also get this payment in some situations, when you have a spouse or partner, or aren't living on your own.
Help with getting benefits and pensions paid overseas and overseas benefit and pension entitlements.

Veteran's Affairs New Zealand (VANZ) offer a number of special allowances and grants for you and your relatives such as gallantry awards, hearing aid grants, clothing and medical cost allowances.

A card that gives you discounts on some goods and services. If you receive Veteran’s Pension, you automatically receive a Veteran SuperGold Card that includes Community Services Card entitlement.
Help if you’re disabled
If you're disabled you may be able to get a War Disablement, Veteran's pension or special allowances or grants.
You may be able to get this pension if you have a disability caused by a war or other emergency in which you served.

We may be able to help you with the cost of care or house modifications to make life easier. If you want to keep your home when you move into care, we may be able to help you with a loan.

Funding for changes to your home because you're disabled.
Help if your spouse, partner, parent or child is a War Veteran
If you're a relative of a Veteran you may be able to get pensions, special allowances and grants.

Help with funeral expenses
If someone close to you has died we may be able to help you with some funeral costs. You may also be entitled to a lump sum payment.
