We can offer career guidance and help you find a job that’s right for you.
We may be able to help you with some of the costs of looking for work and attending interviews.

Help getting work experience
The more skills you have, the better your chances are of getting the job you want. We may be able to help you get work experience.
If you can’t find work straight away, you may like to consider gaining work experience and learning new skills by doing voluntary work. We can offer you opportunities and put you in touch with suitable projects.
Provides employers with a subsidy to provide an employment opportunity to a young person aged between 16 and 24, receiving a benefit, with low or no skills, or work experience.
If you want to develop your work skills, increase your self-confidence or find out what you might be good at, you might want to consider Work Experience.
Voluntary work is great way to get work experience, learn new skills and help a community.
Taskforce Green gives you the chance to work full-time on a community or environmental project and see it through to the end. You’ll meet new employers, get satisfaction from the job, and an up-to-date reference for your CV.
A free service to help you move into further education, training, work or other meaningful activity.
Help to study, train or learn new skills
A payment to help with your living costs while you study full-time. You don't have to pay this back.
A loan from the Government to help finance your study.
An allowance which helps people on some benefits with some employment-related training costs.
Help for people who are attending short-term employment-related training courses (normally less than 12 weeks).
A six-week motivational course run by the New Zealand Defence Force.

Help for employers to train newly-employed young people.
The New Zealand Defence Force is linked with three youth development programmes. Each is funded by the government, but uses the expertise of Defence Force staff to help motivate young New Zealanders to enter the workforce. The New Zealand Cadet Forces is an additional youth leadership programme run in partnership with the community.
Help moving into a job
We understand that for some people starting a new job isn’t always easy. We want to support you while you settle into work and may be able to help you with some initial job costs.
Help when leaving school or home
Assistance if you're a 16 or 17 year-old who can't live with your parents and cannot be reasonably expected to be supported by them or anyone else.
If you're caring for a 16 or 17 year-old who's living away from home while on a tertiary or training course, you may be able to get an allowance to help with their living costs.
Help with childcare
We may be able to provide financial help if you’re looking after a child.
A payment which helps parents who are under 18 years of age and currently in secondary school who are paying early childcare costs for their children.
