Trade Me Jobs email - answers to questions
Work and Income want to help people into work. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Trade Me to email certain people about the latest job vacancies in their area.
I’m looking for work outside my area. Can you change the email?
No. The area is based on your current address recorded by Work and Income. However, you can change the area in the Trade Me website by updating the settings in the 'Job search' panel. You can also save your settings and arrange for Trade Me to email you directly when jobs become available which match your criteria.
I don’t get the email but would like to. Can I be included?
Currently, we are only able to send the Trade Me jobs email to a limited group of people. For you to get the email we must have a record of your current email address and you need to be looking for work and getting an Unemployment Benefit or Independent Youth Benefit. There are some exceptions to these rules that may mean we can't send you the email.
I’m not registered with Work and Income, why am I getting the emails?
We get email addresses directly from our clients so if you're not registered with Work and Income you shouldn't be getting these emails. We may have been given your email address by mistake. Please call our general enquiries line on 0800 559 009 and we can arrange for the emails to be stopped.
I’m unable to work at the moment. Can the emails be stopped?
If you are currently unable to work, please contact us as soon as possible. We want to ensure you're getting the assistance you're entitled to and that we've identified the services which can help you return to work. While you're on your current benefit you'll continue to get the email each week.
Are there other job sites you can email me?
At this time we have only teamed up with the Trade Me website. We will continue to look for other ways to help you in your job search. For other job vacancy websites please visit the Career Services website.
The jobs displayed don’t suit my skills, why not?
The email we send you does not match jobs to your personal skills and we don't have any control over the types of jobs which are posted on Trade Me. We can only inform you of the job categories listed on Trade Me in your area which have new job opportunities posted. You can identify the jobs that suit your skills on Trade Me.
I’m not sure how to use the Trade Me job site. Can you help?
You can use the 'Job search' panel to define the types of jobs you are looking for (eg location, job category). Once you have identified the types of jobs you're interested in, you can select a particular job to find out more about it. If you want to apply for that job, simply select the 'Apply online' option and submit your details in the following screen.
If you need more help using Trade Me, please use their Help option. Work and Income staff aren't trained to answer questions about the Trade Me website.
Where can I find more information about a job on Trade Me?
The job listing provides all the available details about the position. If you need more information you may be able to contact the company who advertised the position directly.
How can I update my email address?
Please call the Work and Income general enquiries line on 0800 559 009. One of our customer service representatives will be happy to help.
Why can’t I stop the emails?
As someone who is looking for work, Work and Income want to provide you with services that help you find employment. It helps you perform your obligation of taking reasonable steps to find employment. Once you are in full-time work, let us know and we will stop sending you the emails.
