Services for Employers
Work and Income helps employers recruit and keep quality staff.
We offer established and new businesses three very useful services.
Straight to employment
You can advertise vacancies with us nationwide. We’ll search our database of job seekers to find the right person for your business and refer them to you to carry out your usual recruitment and selection processes. We’ll tell you quickly if we can’t find anyone. We provide:
- vetting of job seekers from our national database to help fill your vacancies at no cost or obligation to you
- on-going support if you employ a Work and Income job seeker to ensure they have everything they need for a smooth transition into work.
To take advantage of this service, don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll arrange for a local person to take the details of the vacancy and start looking for the right person for your business.
If we can’t find suitable candidates, we may be able to work together to develop training to up-skill job seekers who would make great employees for you.
Skills for Industry
If your business can provide training for new employees, we may enter into a Skills for Industry agreement with you. Then we can help with funding to support in-house training or other expenses when your new employee starts. This is a great way to recruit and at the same time reduce the cost of training. We’ll provide candidates from the community your business operates in and, before referring them to you, ensure they meet your requirements. Final selection is up to you.
“The best thing about our relationship with MSD is their willingness to tailor solutions to the situation. Our job offer rate has been over 90% and the retention rate within the business is very high, so together we are doing something right!” – Chris Meade former Executive General Manager, Downer, talking about the Skills for Industry Basic Civils Programme
You may be able to get a Flexi-Wage Subsidy to help employ someone currently on benefit. Depending on their circumstances, we may also be able to help with their training costs. Flexi-wage subsidies can help you give someone a start in the workforce, or to return after a period of unemployment.
