Migrant employment assistance (MEA)
Migrant Employment Assistance (MEA) is funding for projects that help migrants get the skills they need to find work.
Who can get funding
To get MEA funding projects need to:
- develop migrants’ skills that will lead to employment
- work with recognised migrant communities or individuals.
The migrants taking part in these projects must have been in New Zealand less than two years and be having problems finding work.
Examples of projects that MEA could support include:
- an introduction to New Zealand work environments and habits
- skills alignment projects for people with qualifications not recognised by New Zealand.

If you would like more information about MEA, please contact your nearest Work and Income regional office.
