Frequently asked questions
This page contains the frequently asked questions and their answers for the Employers On-Line service.
The service is advertised as being available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, does that mean I can recruit people on weekends?
Yes you can recruit people on weekends. If the job candidate has a cell phone or email address they will recieve a text or email message notifying them of your contact. However, if the candidate only has a landline, they will not be advised of the job opportunity until the next working day when our staff will contact them.
If I happen to be doing my recruiting at 3:00 am, will I be bothering people by sending them a text message at that time?
No, our system is designed to send messages only during "sociable hours", that is, between 7:30 am and 8:00 pm.
What if a candidate does not respond to my request or if I am unhappy with their conduct?
If you are concerned that a candidate has not responded to your request, or at their conduct when you have communicated with them, you are welcome to email us with their ID number and the details at employers_online@msd.govt.nz for us to take follow up action.
What if the job title I need isn't in the list?
Check if there is another job title that is similar that you can use, is the job known by any other names? You can check the O*net database for alternative job titles. If there are none that are suitable, we may be able to add a new job title to the list. Send us an email at employers_online@msd.govt.nz with the job title, and if you know any other names that the job might come under, this may be helpful as well. It may take up to two weeks for the new job title to be added to the system.
