Straight 2 Work

Straight 2 Work are pre-employment training programmes we develop with industry partners for people to gain skills tailored specifically to industry sector requirements. This means that the training provided is relevant to the needs of the employers within that industry. The programme is offered through Industry Partnerships.

Straight 2 Work aims to provide employers with trained employees and enable people to move towards sustainable employment.

Five stages of Straight 2 Work

1. Assessment and selection

We'll work with you to determine the entry-level criteria for jobs in your industry. Then we'll select people for training who meet your workforce needs.

2. Training

We'll provide training for people to gain skills to meet the minimum entry-level requirements of your industry. The training includes work-based training in a real work setting.

3. Job placement

We'll work with you and your industry to get our trained people move into work. Most job placements are achieved within six weeks.

4. Career support

We'll provide career support for up to six months to help new employees settle into the job and stay on the job. This could include upskilling, mentoring and support to help them deal with any job related problems so that they can become valued employees.

5. Career planning

We'll work with you and your new employee for up to six months to develop a career plan so that the new employee can develop their skills and knowledge further. This may include internal formal training and development opportunities, or linking them into an apprenticeship or other nationally recognised qualifications.
