Payment rates increases

Annual adjustment on 1 April 2011
From 1 April 2011 there will be a 3.75% increase to:
- rates of New Zealand Superannuation and Veteran’s Pension
- rates and thresholds for main benefits, Student Allowances, Student Loan Living Costs and the Foster Care Allowance
- rates and thresholds for some supplementary assistance
- thresholds for the Community Services Card.
The increase in these payments reflects the increase in the Consumer Price Index for the year to 31 December 2010.
On top of the flat adjustment for cost of living increases, New Zealand Superannuation rates will be further adjusted to bring them up to 66% of the net average wage.
On the same date Temporary GST Assistance and the increase to some allowances that was paid from 1 October 2010 until 31 March 2011 to help offset October’s GST increase will stop being paid.
