If you are struggling to support yourself or your family, please talk to us. Everyone’s situation is different and we can often help. If you need to apply for assistance we will let you know exactly what you need to do.

The financial assistance and support available includes:
- Special Needs Grants
Special Needs Grants provide financial assistance for your immediate needs such as travel, food or essential items. You do not have to be receiving a benefit to qualify for a Special Needs Grant. In most cases this won’t have to be paid back.
- Recoverable Assistance Programme and Advance Payment of Benefit
Recoverable Assistance Programme and Advance Payment of Benefit is for immediate and essential needs such as travel, rent or power. This assistance will need to be paid back.
- Other Financial Assistance
We have a range of other financial assistance payments available, depending on your circumstances, such as Unemployment Benefit, Sickness Benefit, Domestic Purposes Benefit, Emergency Benefit, Working for Families and Temporary Additional Support.
- Counselling Support
If you need counselling support or need to talk to someone during this difficult time you can call the Pike River Helpline on (03) 768 9835 or visit the Community Link in Greymouth.
