Our services

Porirua Community link is about working together with a commonality of values and beliefs, for the benefit of the people in our community. People in our communities will benefit from having improved access to support and help that will assist them to achieve their goals.

The Porirua Community Link provides services to communities within the Porirua City area.

A local steering group made up of government and non-government agency representatives has been established to ensure that the community are involved in the development of our programmes, services and client practices.

Our partners

Porirua Community Link partners include:

  • Budgeting Services – provides free and confidential budget advice 
  • Careers NZ - Careers New Zealand provides, free advice and support to help New Zealanders make well-informed decisions about their work and career choices
  • Capital Support - Capital Support assists people under the age of 65 who have a sensory, physical or intellectual disability (or a combination of these) that is likely to continue to continue for a minimum of 6 months and results in reduction of independent function.
  • Compass/Tumai Primary Health Organisation – provides health advocacy and primary mental health solutions
  • Fanau Centre – community centre housing various government and non-government agencies to provide localised services
  • Footsteps poutama - provide fully funded qualified ECE teachers to regularly visit your child and chosen caregiver at home, offering fun 1:1 support to enrich your child's learning and development  
  • Housing New Zealand Corporation – provides housing for New Zealanders in their time of need for the duration of their need
  • Inland Revenue Department - provides information about Working for Families Tax Credit and Child Support
  • MCLaSS - provides support to migrants and refugees to find employment
  • Ministry of Justice – Family Court where Community Link case managers provide wrap around services to people affected by family violence via their involvement with the court
  • Oratoa Mauriora - provides Gamble Safe Gamble Free service
  • Partners Porirua – provides youth services assisting 15-24 year olds with education, training or employment job seeking, mentoring and support
  • Regional Public Health - Public Health Nurse on site 20 hours per week
  • Senior Services – supports older people through provision of financial assistance and connection to services, support and opportunities
  • Settlement Support - provides information and referral service to new migrants
  • Streets Ahead 237 – provides programmes addressing youth gangs and ensuring that young people have the right options to make informed decisions before they commit to a gang lifestyle
  • Strengthening Families - is a community-based initiative that helps families / whānau get access to the services they need
  • Studylink - provides financial assistance for Students
  • Te Roopu Awhina ki Porirua – Family Start Program, Early Intervention for Families, Social Workers in Schools, Maori Mental Health 
  • Te Roopu Pookai Taaniwhaniwha Inc - provides a range of services to clients with mild to moderate and secondary in mental health with social issues, physical activities, a day programme and training/education in anti stigma and discrimination
  • Te Wananga o Aotearoa – provides tertiary education pathways targeted toward community groups
  • The Learning Shop –The Learning Shop provides Youth Services assisting youth with education, training or employment, mentoring and support. Also works with adults providing support to undertake further study and gain employment
  • Volunteer Porirua - recruit and refer people to voluntary roles with community organisations
  • Wesley Community Action - facilitates "Good Cents" budgeting course on site
  • Whitireia Polytechnic – provides tertiary education opportunities
  • Work and Income – provides help to get a job and income support
  • Workbridge - Workbridge - a professional employment service for people with all types of disability.  Workbridge also administers Support Funds to assist people into employment
  • Workmates Supported Employment Agency – A Charitable trust that provides pre and post support for clients into employment and for those in receipt of Jobseeker Support and Supported Living Payment
