Ashburton Community Link

Our services

The Ashburton Community Link will focus on services for older people but not exclusively. The wider community needs have also been considered.

Ashburton New Zealand Superannuation has a client population of around 4700, this makes up to 81% of the total Work and Income client numbers and equates to around 17% of Ashburton's total urban population.

A local management group made up of government and non government agency representatives has been established to ensure that the community are involved in determining the range of programmes and services the centre will house. The Ministry has ensured the centre's development aligns with the Ashburton District Social Wellbeing Strategy.

Consultation with the Ashburton community has also helped the Ministry consider how the centre will be designed and the services it will deliver. This reinforces that community participation is a key success factor.
