Our services
West Auckland’s first Community Link opened in November 2009 at a new site in Westgate.
The opportunity to establish a Community Link came about with Work and Income Westgate’s lease expiring. At the same time Child, Youth and Family were looking for a new building to house their Whenuapai team, which led to the two agencies being co-located at the Community Link.
The Westgate Community Link is based downstairs with Child, Youth and Family located on the second floor.
Consultation with the Westgate community has also helped the Ministry consider how the centre will be designed and the services it will deliver, which will continue to evolve in response to the community’s needs. This reinforces that community participation is a key success factor.

Westgate Community Link partners include:
- Barnardos – supporting families across a range of services
- Careers NZ – provides help in making decisions about work and training
- Child, Youth and Family – provides support and protection for children, young people and their families
- Department of Building and Housing – provides tenancy advice and information, community education and liaison and mediation services for tenants and landlords
- Inland Revenue Department – provides information about Working for Families Tax Credit and Child Support
- Western Districts Budget Services – provides budgeting and advice services
- Work and Income – provides help to get a job and income support
- Workbridge – provides a professional employment service for people with disabilities, injury or illness.
