Joining Community Link

Work and Income has traditionally been responsible for the case management of people who receive a benefit or superannuation. We know that many people we serve have a wider range of needs than just the support they get from us. This may include assistance from our Partners.

We would like to discuss with community groups and organisation the ways that we can provide a continuum of service for our mutual clients by better connecting to all the agencies which can support them.

Community Link needs the support of its community to identify the needs of its people. This will ensure that it’s easier for people, their families and communities to access the right support and services they need.

We invite organisations to join us who want to:

  • help foster this way of working together
  • become one of the agencies working together in their local Community Link seeking to makes it easier for people, their families and communities to access the help and support they need
  • use the resources Community Link has to share
  • have a regular presence in Community Link or use the facilities on a casual basis

What are the benefits of joining Community Link?

Community Link can provide your organisation with access to a convenient location and a frontline office if your organisation doesn’t have one. You will have access to the facilities the Link offers, such as rooms, desks and phones and shared information technology. Your organisation will also be able to link with other organisations and share information and know-how to improve the way you work with your clients. You will save time by having face to face contact with organisations you would normally deal with through a referral system. The Community Link environment has been designed to encourage greater information sharing, efficiency and effectiveness through shared spaces without compromising privacy.

How will Community Link benefit my clients?

Because Community Links aim to house a range of social services determined by the needs of the community, your clients should find the centre more convenient. We aim to ensure services are provided in a seamless and integrated way, so your clients should only need to tell their story once, your client will get help quicker and get on with their lives faster.

What are the criteria for being part of Community Link?

Each Community Link will be developed on the needs of the common clients and their families within the community to ensure their needs are dealt with quicker.

How much will it cost my organisation?

Organisations are not expected to pay rent. There may be some minimal cost sharing or cost recovery involved but it is too soon to say what that might look like. We expect any costs to be minimal.
